We aim to enrich the lives of our children at SISP, and help our craft workers too, but unfortunately our funds are insufficient for many of the things we would like.

We are lucky in having visitors who bring us gifts and donors who like to fund, or run collections for, bigger items. Please remember that we expect nothing of our visitors and appreciate anything you might give us.

Visitors and donors often ask us what items we are short of. Here are some suggestions from our staff...

If you'd like to discuss anything please send an email to me, Clive, at clivington@gmail.com

Smaller Items

These are small, easy to pack in luggage, and are mostly things we can never have too many of!

Urgent - Paul has reported that we are still in need for individual packs of sterilized dressing pads, gauzes, in all sizes. We are out of them and they are difficult to find here and expensive too. If you can help with this it would be very much appreciated.

Medical Wish List - Bandage, Gauze (sterile), Cortisone Cream or Ointment, Antibiotics Cream or Powder. Antimicotics Cream or Powder, Eyedrop Antibiotics, Eardrop Antibiotics, Hydrogen Peroxide.

Badminton Shuttlecocks - a tube or two please of the plastic ones. And perhaps some more robust raquets...

Tennis Balls

Pens - Ballpoint, gel, whatever - pens to write with. Black and blue - the children get through loads of pens. The local ones don't seem to be as good quality. Please! Second-user pens are fine too, and often more interesting - like old pens with adverts on....

Bead Kits - for making necklaces, bracelets - simple colourful plastic beads, with thread. A huge, huge hit with the younger children - they will wear their creations for weeks on end!

Simplified Readers - these are usually classic short stories which have simplified grammar and vocabulary. Beginner and Intermediate Levels please.

Dremel Accessories - bits for our newly donated Dremel 300 drills, for carving, engraving, routing, sanding and drilling. Especially need sanding drums!

Books - Ideally hardbacks. Things like old Christmas Annuals, Short Stories suitable for young teenagers, and classic short stories.

Paint, the bigger the the pot the better, lots of colours, poster paints or acrylic (no oils, please), for art lessons

Tambourines and Recorders - for our new music classes.

Paint Boxes - ideally several identical ones to save squabbling!

Artists Paint Brushes - lots, all sizes and durable ones please!

Fabric Paint - paint for fabric!

Glitter and Glitter Pens - the prettier the better!

Glue - Child-Safe, both Clear and White please.

Coloured Card - A4 size or bigger. Anything suitable for small hands to cut.

Cutting Boards (A4 and A3 sizes)

Foam Sheet, thin (2 - 4mm) and dense - all sizes and colours

Foam Balls, Shapes, Eyes and Feet, for making fabulous creatures

Plastercine (invented 1897. Amazing!) ... or modelling clay.

Furry Material, the hairier and more outrageous the better!

"Creative" Text Books, to inspire over-worked teachers

Ribbon Material, all sizes, lengths and colours

"How to Draw" Text Books, not "How to Draw Text Books"!

Sponging Sets - sponge shapes and paint

Colouring Books - ideally, when opened, there's a blank page one side, and a picture of how it should look on the other

Colour by Numbers Colouring Books (ideally 15 of the same book)

Plastic Storage Boxes - we really could do with some of these, A4 size

Flower-Making Kits

Strong Thread and thin string

Coloured Felt Sheets

Old Magazines with glossy paper pages - for cutting out and making collages

Anything the children can have fun with and learn from

Clothes - good quality second-hand clothes are always needed. If you want to buy new clothes they are always cheaper in India. Shirts (short or long sleeves), shorts, trousers, jeans, long skirts, blouses, thin - nothing too thick please, ages 6 to 20 years.

Sandals - for ages 6 to 20 years. Again, either second-hand or bought here.

We now have lots of felt pens, colouring pencils, pencils and crayons and, for now, don't need any more - thank you!

Bigger Items - some best bought locally

Please let us know if you intend to fund one of these items otherwise me may end up with two people wanting to donate the same thing! Please email Clive, at cliveinindia@gmail.com
