26th August, 2011

With the help of SISP Netherlands, we bought last year a piece of land bordering our center. The NGO LELIA committed itself for the construction and first years working expenses for a new centre for social employment. Several contractors were asked to submit a quotation and Mohan Sir, chief coordinator SEP, selected the best ones for the management team to decide with who we would start the works. Mr. Bajee, contractor was selected based on best quality/price estimation. It will become a 2 floor building, situated left from the SISP center entrance.
As usual in India, the contractor had to consult the astrologists to find out which would be the best days for fixing the first foundation stone and for starting the works. The stars decided that on Thursday, Aug. 11, 11.55 am, we had to put the stone in the north western corner and the works could start on the 18th of Aug. Paolo, Secretary of the NGO LELIA, who was in SISP for a visit, and myself had the honor to hand over the first stone to the mason under enthusiastic applause from children and staff. The ceremony was accompanied by an offering of flowers, incense, coconut, fruits and money to please the Gods, followed by a treat of candies to please the children and employees.
