SISP has an opportunity for a volunteer teacher of computing at its Education Centre in Kovalam, Kerala, India. The post is from April 2010 to July 2010 - four months' duration. You will need to be a self-starter and show initiative. Skills needed are good familiarity with Personal Computers in general and with Microsoft Office in particular. You will teach both theoretical and practical aspects in class sizes averaging twelve in number, and ages six to twenty, grouped according to ability. Previous experience of teaching children will be a considerable advantage, as would experience of teaching Computing. If from the UK, you will need an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) assessment. If from other countries, you will need an equivalent statement. You are expected to be fluent in English language. |

This position is non-remunerated and no fee is requested or expected. You will have to pay for your own flights, accommodation, food, keep and all personal costs. You will also be expected to comply with SISP's Cultural Advice and Ethical Guidelines which will be emailed to you upon request. Working with SISP's children is hugely rewarding - you will learn much about them and their lives, and much about yourself. You will be expected to work 09:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00 most weekdays during which there will be some free periods for preparing lessons. Evenings and weekends will be your own.
