Prize Giving |
2nd June, 2009 |
The new academic year has started! Everywhere there were excited children setting off for school after their summer holidays. They were two months long for most Indian schools but only two weeks at SISP. Our teachers have used this time to prepare new lesson plans and to recharge their energies in readiness for the busy year ahead. And it started on a happy note with prize giving. The exams in May allowed teachers to assess the progress of the children and the best two in each year were rewarded with little prizes. Paul Van Gelder (SISP founder) and Mrs Kumari (Head Teacher), had great pleasure in presenting the rewards and the children obviously had great pleasure in receiving them! The composition of the classes has been adjusted accordingly, with some of the best students going up to the next level. Some dropped a level but they were generally new children whose academic ability has only just become known. The highest achievers will be sent to regular schools wherever possible and their expenses met by SISP. The first few days of the new term will start gently with new exercise books being issued and covered with paper, new timetables being issued, and the classes generally getting used to their new classmates. |
