The van is no more...

One of the essential corner-stones of SISP, our faithful old bus, has given up the ghost. We are iving on borrowed time but our bus is certain to fail its imminent roadworthiness test.

It has failed a number of times recently - first with one thing and then with another. But now we have got to the point where it is no longer viable to repair it.

Without the bus we will be in serious difficulty for conveying our children to school, to clinics and many other valuable uses.

We must cut our losses and go for buying a new van. We have received 5 tenders ranging in cost from 500,000 INR to 800,000 INR (£6,250 to £10,000 or 9,100€ to 14,550€).

Our old bus had done a lot of hard work and travelled a fair distance so we have opted to go for the same manufacturer as the old one but for a model with a few more seats : the "Tempo Traveller" model from the Force company, with 17 seats plus driver. The price will be around 700,000 INR (£8,750 or 12,730€).

We have opted for a model that has an economical consumption and produces fewer emissions. The fuel economy is extremely beneficial to us - we will save 1000€ a year on petrol compared to the other models, the quality is much better and it should have a long life.

SISP Belgium and all our friends in Belgium, Kinderen Derde Wereld, SISP Netherlands and our sponsors in Italy have all contributed their bit. However, we still need at least 5,000 Euro.

You have all helped us so much in the past that I hesitate to write to you again. However, if you, your friends, family, or colleagues can help us it will allow our work for our children and their families to continue.

On behalf of our SISP team here in India, the many families and children, thank you very much for your contributions and dedication! We are very proud that you still support us!

Thank you all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friendly greetings from everyone here,
Paul
