Letter from Paul - India

We think we should publish part of a letter Paul sent us on 17 October 2007 from India...

A cancer patient, whose terrible cancer wounds I looked after daily for the last few months, sadly died. Fortunately we were able to make her last weeks a little more comfortable than she would otherwise have been. We had found a service for palliatory care which had recently started up. It ensured sufficient morphine and other medication and the weekly house visit of a doctor.

This lady's name was Selinmary and she lived alone in a small, bakingly hot palmleaf hut without water or toilet, but for the last year she received SISP food parcels, money for medication and electricity (1 bulb).

That new service for palliatory care, with which we now co-operate, is a fantastic initiative and a blessing for our region.

Additionally, since a couple of weeks ago, an English nurse has come to work as a volunteer for SISP and hopes to stay for several months. She is a huge and welcome help, but I need more energy for my meetings and I need to be more organised...
