Thank You, Abingdon Social Services!

We are delighted to hear that the staff at the Abingdon Office of the Oxfordshire Social Services raised the superb sum of £215 as proceeds from their annual Christmas raffle. Normally, the proceeds go to local charities but this year the organisers decided to break with tradition and to support the SISP project instead.  The decision was made after staff member Jackie Morgan described her and husband Phil's visit to Kovalam in November and meeting up with friend Clive who is volunteering at SISP. He obviously did a good PR job!

£215 is much more than is usually raised but people responded because it was a Social Work project and even people who don’t normally buy tickets did.   They raffled books got free from a book club that comes round offices and gives 10% of what is sold so they didn't even have to buy the prizes - a win-win for everyone concerned!
