The entrance gates are being constructed |
9th April, 2008 |
The large entrance gates are being fabricated in the yard at the front of the premises. The bespoke steel gates have to be made to suit so that they fit perfectly and make the property safe and secure. The health and safety of workers is not as high a consideration in India as it is in the West. The photos show that at least the welder has some eye protection but it appears that his mate does not! Meanwhile the walls of the workshops are still being worked upon. Timber framework is being put in place to allow the construction of the overhangs above the windows. These are not purely decorative - they also give some protection against the heavy rains and reduce direct sunlight. The many windows ensure adequate light into the rooms and also allow some natural cooling from breezes. This is absolutely essential in the heat of the summer season. These buildings are spacious and will be a huge improvement over our old home on Harbour Road. |
