Water! |
22nd February, 2008 |
This is Paul VTJ's (our Belgian webmaster's) last day in India. He writes... As is customary at a farewell it was my turn to treat the children with something sweet. Werner helped by buying the and preparing a wonderful fruit salad which everyone found very tasty. The young people gave me a beautiful lotus flower, made from coconut and offered generously as a souvenir. It will be placed somewhere special when I get home. In the afternoon we paid a final visit to the new centre. The water pump has now been installed and the proud architect wanted to show us the results. It takes some 12 minutes for the water to be pumped from a depth of 450 feet to the surface. It is heartening to know that the centre now has its own water resources. I am convinced that this new, beautiful building will be the making of SISP. There is so much more room for everyone. It will be a real home for many of the poorest people from the area. Tomorrow I wend my way back to Belgium after a long trip with so many good impressions to save as beautiful and precious memories. |
