Report from Paul VTJ, our webmaster from Belgium, currently at SISP, India

Three weeks ago we contacted a new company which was capable of drilling to a depth of 500 metres so we were hopeful that they could find water for us. Tonight, we got a phone call to say that they had re-started drilling.

When we got to the site at around 18:30 the yard was full of trucks. One of the lorries was loaded with plastic pipes. I also noticed a number of people in the back of another truck wielding large spanners and hammers. There was a lot of animated talk, and I had the impression that they were trying to undo a stuck nut on the drill. It was already becoming dark and there was no movement from the boring machine.

Eventually, all work stopped and they decided to install a new section of drill. The drilling for water would be in the course of the night... Meanwhile, those at the site were getting hungry and the workmen set about preparing some food.

I decided to go home and to return tomorrow morning. Hopefully they will find an aquifer so that the SISP centre will have sufficient water for its needs. I have seen the euphoric moment when water surges out of a new well, but perhaps I am just an optimistic dreamer...
