Still, these pressures are common in this part of the world and the workers continue to make progress as you can see in the photos. The photo on the right and below shows that the lintels above the windows are being finished off and the steel-reinforced roof-support piers are being cast in-situ. The sand is sieved to make it fine enough for the plastering, and great heaps of it cover the floor. The downstairs ceilings and window reveals are being skillfully plastered and at this stage we can start to imagine the buildings will be habitable. The photo at the bottom shows a workman gathering small rocks. These will be smashed manually with a narrow-shafted hammer into gravel-sized pieces and will go into the concrete mix for the piers. |
