Drop by drop the local broadcast stations are reporting news items concerning the monsoon...

One minor effect of the rain is that it make it difficult to take photographs. The camera and the photographer become wet and the photographs have been underexposed and blurred. Werner received criticism from another amateur photographerconcerning his previous photographs. They were too dark to be published on the website, he said.

Therefore Werner had to wait till the rains stopped and the sun gave more light. Today, Sunday August 5, it was such a day.
The workers had their resting day, but the yard speaks for itself, as you can see.

It seems that a tornado passed through the construction yard and, because it started raining very heavily, the workers had to drop their tools and leave the construction yard at a run.

Meanwhile some classrooms on the ground floor have already reached ceiling height. Now the pillars of reinforced concrete can be poured and supported. They need sufficient time to set because they have to support the ceiling and the rooms above.

H eavy rocks still lie scattered in the yard. Perhaps they can put them to good use as seating for the children?

As we measure the progress of the project by viewing the photos, in India they count how much cement, sand, bricks and other construction material they still need to be able to finish everything properly.

The lessons at the beginning of the new school year must start in the current rented building. If the activities on the yard continue as fast as they are now it seems that the new centre will be opened at the beginning of next calendar year.

The SISP centre is built on land which is a bit higher than the surrounding land and so we hope we don't have too much trouble from the heavy monsoon rains which have already washed away a lot of huts and shelters of families in the district.

In the construction yard the red clay is slippery and that sometimes results in surprises. One such surprise happened when a lorry slid in the mud into the wall at the front of the office and knocked down a few blocks. This caused a few surprised looks on the faces in the yard!
